Ashes

Sunlight fades to dust
Gone are all the friends we trust,
Time happens to the best of us
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Moonlight sheds a tear
another night, another year,
reflecting on your hopes and fears
Ashes to ashes, ever so clear.

Winter wind blows cold
Aware that you are growing old.
The emerald leaves have turned to gold
Ashes to ashes, warmth to cold.

Counting final breaths
Afraid your life was never blessed,
Now time runs out and you can rest…
Ashes to ashes, life to death.
