Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1919, Ruth spent the first 10 years of her life moving from a variety of states due to her father’s work, before the family finally settled in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She attended two year at Sweet Briar College in Virginia; she finished her BA at Thomas Edison College and received her MA from William Paterson College. One thing was always clear, her love for poetry and her professors did not fail to notice her excellence in writing. Ruth taught English at Bergen Community College, but later gave it up to return her writing.
She met Carlton P. Frost (Penn) at a New Year’s Eve party in 1946; they married in May of 1947. They had two children, Carlton and Lee. They were married more than fifty years and upon her passing in 2001, Penn took it upon himself to make sure that her works got published. He wants the world to know just how special she was by sharing her writings.
